Sandra Scott Dip Couns Dip RAM
As a qualified Integrative counsellor, professional singer, vocal coach and life coach and Musical Director of two choirs. I offer over 20 years experience of working with performers and artists. I feel I am privileged to hold a unique position of understanding first hand the particular pressures and demands of the performer and creative person, artist and writer and in doing so I work in a holistic way with a unique empathy for the particular needs of people within the entertainment and creative industry, employing a non judgmental approach and sense of humanity at all times.
I began my musical training with world renowned vocal teacher Arnold Rose author of The Singer and the Voice (Faber & Faber. Scholar Press) and then completed my studies at the Royal Academy of Music studying post graduate singing with Prof Marjorie Thomas. I have performed in opera, jazz, contemporary classical music and Irish traditional and now also have a thriving singing teaching practice in London and Rye and direct two choirs again in London and Rye called The Wall of Sound and our ethos is very much based on being together, expressing the inner and outer voice in a very safe and supportive environment, using the power of the singing voice to transform both within the choir and into a wider world. We perform a wide eclectic repertoire and have performed for Esther Rantzen's charity SilverLine at St Bartholomew the Great in Spitalfields to Cork Choral Festival to the medieval churches of Romney Marsh.

I work with an Integrative approach to counselling using a general Person Centered mode of working with a combination of Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Existential and Psychosynthesis approaches in accordance with the needs of each individual person.
ABOUT my
COUNSELLING FOR CREATIVE PEOPLE
Managing the inner critic
In counselling we offer a safe and confidential environment to explore the issues and meaning behind working with performance & creative issues such as stage anxiety & stage fright, creative & personal motivation, confidence both as a musician, body image & artistic blocks. In our counselling sessions we would work together in a non judgmental way to seek a way forward to enable you to find a way and meaning of life that is right for your own individual, creative & unique self, working to open a door to all that your wish to express and create.

I offer short term counselling as well as longer term counselling according once again to your own needs.
Our Unique Combination of
Counselling and Singing

I believe my approach is powerful because it goes beyond just teaching vocal technique; it taps into the emotional, psychological, and even physical aspects that impact both voice and self-expression. Singing, at its core, is a deeply personal and vulnerable act. By integrating a holistic approach into my teaching, my work uncovers and release emotional blocks that may limit your vocal potential, allowing for more authentic and resonant singing.

This holistic synthesis also helps my singing students connect with their inner selves, fostering self-awareness and confidence, which leads to breakthroughs not just in their voice but in their personal lives as well. The psychotherapeutic aspect provides a safe, supportive environment for emotional healing and growth, while the vocal training strengthens the physical technique needed for powerful singing. Together, these elements lead to profound transformation, helping you to not only sing better but also express yourself more fully and authentically.
Because I realise through my many years of working with singers and the singing voice that the process of learning to sing can offer a unique opportunity to discover and explore the many different emotions that are sometimes just below the surface waiting to be voiced, I offer a unique and special counselling/singing hour session that offers uniquely a way to combine the need to talk within the confidentiality and safety of the counselling setting as well as a want to express through the wonderful tool of the singing voice.

These unique sessions can be a one off session in combination with singing tuition or can be longer term .
